Kimberlin, MD, FAAP is the Principal Investigator for the Collaborative Antiviral Study Group (CASG), an international network of pediatric academic medical centers that evaluates antiviral therapeutics in rare diseases with a large unmet medical need, including neonatal herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections, congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease, congenital Zika infection, neonatal and infantile influenza infection, and neonatal enteroviral sepsis syndrome. Studies conducted by the CASG have led to new drug indications and label changes for acyclovir, valganciclovir, and oseltamivir, and non-CASG studies conducted by Dr. Kimberlin also have led to label changes for valacyclovir.Dr. Kimberlin is Editor of the 2018 AAP Report of the Committee on Infectious Diseases (Red Book), and was the editor for the 2015 edition as well. He is a Past-President of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS), which is the world's largest organization of professionals dedicated to the treatment, control, and eradication of infectious diseases affecting children. Long, MD, FAAP is Section Chief of Infectious Diseases at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA. Operative Dictations in General and Vascular Surgery, Second Edition is intended to teach residents the principles of succinct and precise operative dictations for a wide spectrum of surgical procedures. Designed as a portable resource, the book provides typical dictations to guide the resident. Comprised of 226 procedures, this new edition comprises the majority of procedures commonly performed by general and vascular surgeons. For each procedure, a list of common indications is given. This list covers 95% of the situations in which a particular procedure will be used. A list of essential steps follows. These can be used to mentally rehearse the procedure before it is performed. The next heading, Note these technical variations, introduces a list that is intended to prompt the surgeon for particular things to note and dictate within the template. A list of possible complications that are typically associated with that particular surgical procedure follows. Finally, a template operative dictation is provided. Common opening and terminating sequences (for example, how to enter and close the abdomen) in all laparotomy dictations are included.The volume has two primary objectives. First, it is designed to serve as a source of model operative dictations that may be individualized and used as templates. Second, it is intended as an aide-memoir, giving the surgeon a short list of pertinent information about each procedure. Ample space is provided to allow each surgeon to add notes. By reviewing this introductory material before scrubbing on a procedure, the trainee surgeon will enter the operating room better prepared to participate actively and to learn as much as possible. The book itself is terrific, one minute engendering sympathy, the next laughter. Ove is Ove. This questionnaire is rather silly, because an attempt to analyze the characters would eliminate the silent acceptance and understanding of them that comes from reading. The author writes so well, no analysis is necessary. They are fictional characters, not real. To equate them with real people is not the correct perception. I didn't know anything about this book when I purchased it - I just heard it was good. At first, I thought it was going to be a dark, depressing book about a man who had lost his purpose in life. Instead, it turned out to be a warm and touching book about a man who had lost his purpose in life ... but found it again through a group of unlikely people, circumstances, and a Cat Annoyance. Heart-warming without being cheesy and sentimental.

It was really entertaining. I really laughed at how he judged everyone by the kind of car they drove.

The wife read it for book club and loved it. A book about a guy who keeps trying to kill himself and failing sounds odd to me, but she said it was actually a sweet book.

Everyone in my book club liked it except for me. I couldn’t see it.

I have recommended this book to several friends and my book club. Haven't heard of anyone not liking it.
