The Fall is such a delight! The storyline can be read on the book blurb, so I'll go right into singing its praises.Robin Alexander has a remarkable ability with dialogue and pacing to put a picture of each character straight into the mind's eye. I can 'hear' each and every one, and every voice is distinctive. The humor of her very alive characters is gentle and sometimes the laugh out loud kind. They are drawn with such precision, that it feels at times as though I am watching TV. The romance warms up with perfect timing, and with just enough spice to keep things interesting.Moving along at the perfect clip, sensitive subjects are dealt with realistically and honestly. This is a fun and romantic tale. With the wide spectrum of individuals that contribute to this fun read, it has a similar flavor as the movie, 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'. If you enjoyed the quick interchange of the people in that movie, and the love of family through every situation, then this book will bring you hours of enjoyment, too. Robin Alexander gets better and better with each book,with no two stories of her's the same. She can handle a range of storytelling that is not found in many writers. Highly recommend.

I laughed, I cried, & I loved every minute of it. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and partaking in a bit of their lives. Not only are the main characters believable, but also the supporting cast is just awesome. I had no problem envisioning Ethan in all of his different costumes, he's the perfect loveable diva. But I think my favorite supporting characters are Inez & Joe, because they, together, have created a loving & incredibly supportive family. And in this day and age, that is something to be proud of & cherish. Robin Alexander should be very satisfied with her work in this book, I definitely am. I would really love to read more tales of these characters' exploits, they are highly entertaining & I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ENOUGH!! I've read several of Ms. Alexander's books, & I've yet to be disappointed. After having read this book, I've decided that either the author has an incredible imagination, or she has hilarious neighbors & excellent people watching skills. Whatever the answer, I hope she continues to write many more imaginatively entertaining tales.

I went through all yhe emotions with this one. I love this author's humor, tenderness, and ability to make each of her books separate. I don't mind the books with all the sequels and back stories, but it says something about the author when she can churn out a great individual book Every time. And yes ladies, she's not afraid to write in great sex! I love you!

I can’t begin to describe how I enjoyed this book full of quirky characters. At some point, while reading in the subway, I got asked by some young fellows whether I was all right –because I was trying to suppress my laugh-out-loud outburst to a point of tears running down my cheeks!It’s a sweet story, it celebrates differences in the context of family, a family that supports its offspring and its union, both the Chases and the Savinos are strong on sticking to and supporting their own. It’s also a sweet self-discovery story. Never mind, the story line is great with full fledged characters, but the telling of it is so totally and incredibly funny and enjoyable. Go for it!

What a wonderful and hilarious story. I can’t help but wonder if Ms. Alexander’s stories are inspired by real life events. That would make for a interesting and laugh-filled life. The cast of characters in this story are a combination of eccentric, nutty and loving bunch. I applaud this author for creating these “get out of your rut” and submerse yourself in laugh-out-loud scenarios. I am a huge fan of Ms. Alexander and I look forward to reading many more humorous stories in the future.

Robin Alexander is my go to person when I want a good book to read. Her characters are well developed, likeable and funny as all get out. I always hate to see them end. This book was no disappointment in the good book category, either. I go back and reread most of her stories, this being one of the ones that makes it into my favorites folder to reread in four or five months. Robin has a killer sense of humor and I love reading along and up pops one of her zingers. It's great!

I'm not very good at writing individual reviews because I tend to accidently give away spoilers and plot points so Ifigured I would write out a generic review instead and save myself the time and trouble. If I am putting this review on abook it means that I found it to be truly exeptional and I enjoyed the journey very much, so thank you to the Author forputting a great story down on the pages.

I am always on the lookout for a new read from Robin. I find her extraordinarily talented. The narrative, characters and dialogue in her books create a world of believable and colorful places and characters as true. Robin brings alive small southern towns and loving quirky inhabitants. I laugh out loud and have tears leak out of my eyes. This is a wonderful romance. Enjoy reading this.

I've been reading Josh's information about China for several months. I found this book to be very nice because all the info is in one place. Does he answer ALL the questions anyone might have (like the 3* reviewer)? No but that would be impossible. What this book does is give you a lot of guidance about a lot of things, some of which have probably not occurred to you yet. Along with this are many links to further guidance. If you're planning a trip to China, this book can't possibly NOT be beneficial in some way. And the price is wonderful.

I really appreciated the information in this book. It was an easy read and I loved the personal and conversational tone of the book. Josh shares his personal experiences and does an excellent job painting a realistic picture of what to expect when visiting China.He covers everything from the types of food you can expect, to major holidays that are observed, to tourist traps, to Chinese Visas, and everything in between. The book also gives you some very important reality checks that many travelers may not consider.This book helps to prepare you for the situations you will never think of, or would be impossible to think of unless you already have prior experience. If you were on the fence about visiting China, this book will definitely tip the scales in either direction because you will be left with accurate knowledge and more realistic expectations of China.

The content is great! Very helpful and full of links and recommendations, all given in the down-to-earth manner you'd expect of this author. However, there's no table of contents so you have to scroll through the entire book to find the section you want. A bit frustrating.

It's not often that a purchase pays for itself in the first few minutes you use it; this little guide did! Great and accurate information that saves both time and money. It helps to explain the VISA process and where to obtain it quickly if you wish...cut through the red tape with this information. I cannot recommend this book more highly. Buy and enjoy your travel time with fewer worries.

This book doesn't tell you where to go or what to see but rather gives you the information you need to structure your trip. Train stations, bus stations, visiting people, getting your visa, why Air BnB might not be your best choice, money issues- all the nuts and bolts of good planning. We are going In a couple of months and I am certain that this book has saved me from a multitude of serious mistakes.

This book is an absolute treasure chest of helpful, practical information for anyone with an interest in, or plan to travel to China. Not only will the clearly curated info save time spent researching and help avoid travel headaches, but the writing is also witty and enjoyable. Summers invites the reader into a friendly conversation. Beware that this is the first edition, and there is a newer second edition published in 1994. The product description is for the second edition, which this book is not. The description is misleading and is being used to sell an old book. Accidental? Hard to believe. Get the second edition, not this one.

Admittedly, this one tends to be a bit pricey. But, the content is pure gold for any programmer. Nowhere is the Prolog paradigm better conveyed than here. And, it is of little value to you if you attempt to learn prolog with a mindset of some other language. Prolog is unique and demands a unique way of looking at computer programming in general. It is dated a bit in that it does not cover all the latest developments in Prolog/AI research but no other Prolog books provide the foundational understanding that it does. Get this one for a solid foundation and then build on it with others. See my listmania list of AI Language books for suggestions of followup titles.

After Clocksin and Mellish this is the book to get. It develops the fundamental ideas of the core language, and, continuing in the same style of proper language use and applied computer science avoids being esoteric as it pushes the reader to higher order programming naturally. Recommended! Bought mine second hand in excellent condition. Shame it's not available on Kindle.

This, to me, is one of the 4 best books on computer programming. Unfortunately, it is hard. Not because the book is poorly written - it is like a wonderful story, but because understanding how to think declaratively after being taught something like C or Java is like someone giving you a pair of wings when you're a mudfish.Thinking declaratively changes how you think about problems and how you write code. It's a career changing experience. This is a great book; very clear writing and descriptions. To be honest, I haven't given Prolog, or this book, the time and effort that it deserves - whenever I need to quickly knock a script together I keep falling back to my imperative tendencies, frustrated but knowing that there is likely to be a more elegant declarative solution if I just persevered. I would love to have the time to sit down and methodically work through this book. I believe that I would gain a lot from doing so. Instead I've usually dipped in, late at night when half asleep, to admire the elegance of declarative programming - but this has helped me keep the faith that programming can be an elegant and thoughtful exercise.One day I will find the time to study and ponder Sterling's wonderful work (and then I will rewrite this review with insightful comments and witty rejoinders).

A book to learn logic programming

Book arrived perfectly.

"The Art of Prolog" tries to be top notch: Beautifully crafted book, clear partition in four parts (Logic Programs, The Prolog Language, Advanced Prolog Programming Techniques, Applications), and most programs are very beautiful.Anyhow the authors often try to explain the trivial sometimes even the shallow, then they often do not spent much effort in explaining the difficult. There is an unusual large amount of references to other parts of this book: backward and worse forward. The choice to explain first logic programming and then Edinburgh Prolog as an approximate implementation is especially unfortunate in this respect: A high level of redundancy separated by an entire book part with references to each other.Most of the small programs are very beautiful and true gems. Though the reader should not foul herself, the development of most programs did last many years of brilliant people. I did not get a feel for the difficulty of developing a reasonable prolog program on my own.I really liked the Background section at the end of each chapter: A very sound view to the world around the book.If you are somewhat knowledgeable of the usual AI and CS problems, you will have a lot of pleasure to the elegant approach a prolog program can have to tackle many of them.
