About the Author
Alfred A. Yuson was born and raised in Manila and has received numerous literary awards, including the South East Asia Writers' Award given by Thai royalty. He has authored 14 books and edited several anthologies. He has also been a travel writer, video documentary director, and film screenplay writer. He has chaired the Writers Union of the Philippines, contributes a weekly column to The Philippine Star, and teaches at Ateneo de Manila University.George Tapan is one of the country's most famous travel photographers. This is a very limited point of view review. I gave this book as a gift twice. Both times the receiver is engaged in it and loves it. Both recipients are native to the Philippines so the book brought back memories for them. They do visit the country regularly and was still in awe of the book. One recipient's home is located in the same location as the picture on the back cover. I watched both recipients reminiscence with their loves ones, and share with their children and grandchildren. Neither had anything negative to say about the book and as far as I am concerned they are the experts as I am not even Filipino. From my observation it was engaging, colorful and a real accurate depiction of the Philippines.
I was hoping to learn more about the Philippines and was really looking forward to seeing a map of the islands. No such luck. Pretty pictures but you will not be able to pinpoint any of the locations within the book.
Awesome book. Bought for my grandfather who spent time in the Philippines and misses it. He had me show him each page when I brought it to him. He took in every detail and showed me things going on in the background and stories from when he was there. He loved it and so did I.
Bought this for my Daughter-in-law who is home sick for the Phillipines. Made her smile. Beautiful place, beautiful pictures.

I like this book. It presents the beautiful and historical places of the Philippines. Being written by a Filipino, it depicts the country with a genuine feeling of pride and love.
a small "coffeetable" book to help establish ethnic identity and pride in grandchildren - but also information and glorious photos for all viewing it.
My parents grew up in the Philippines and loved looking at these images. Took them back to their childhood. Recommended.
