I'm a marketing agency owner and read a lot of books about Marketing and Sales. They Ask You Answer is the best thing I've read on the topics of content and inbound marketing. In about four or five waves, I've bought over 60 copies of this book over the past few months and have been sending them to clients and prospective customers simply because no one has done a better job than Marcus at explaining content and inbound marketing in a way that the average person can grasp.Though the personal success story Marcus tells about saving his dying pool business (and then proceeding to build a giant in that space) is a B2C example, the core strategies and tactics he illustrates are absolutely what B2B companies need to be doing NOW.Marcus takes the marketing concepts that he illustrates in Part 1 of the book and then applies them to Sales and even other parts of an organization in a way that's both easily digestible and actionable. They Ask You Answer should be required reading for any modern CMO, Marketing Director or VP of Sales.

Excellent book and sound advice that goes beyond the content marketing buzzword and focuses on providing value-first advice for people who are doing their pre-purchase research. I especially appreciated the strategies shared for getting the Sales team involved in what it typically viewed as "Marketing's job". The author lays out a great process for winning them over and getting them actively producing content of value to the company's prospects and customers.Note: While I own the Kindle edition, I also purchased the Audible version of the book. I was extremely disappointed in the narrator selected to read the book. The reader's voice sounds dated (like it's book on tape from the 70s or 8)s) and the vocal emphasis seems "off" in many places. The delivery is robotic and patently unemotional. They would be better served to let the author re-record this book in his own voice.

This book is quite persuasive about the need to adopt inbound marketing principles and practices. The case studies were interesting, but there should have been much more research and more case studies. There should have been examples of where inbound marketing has been inadequate and where inbound marketing should be combined with outbound marketing. Also, I think there is too much repetition and verbosity in the explanations and examples. In addition, more information on useful organizations and links would have been helpful. Moreover, I would have liked to see more information about strategic planning frameworks for organizations to use in order to implement inbound marketing.

This is a beautiful perspective. Rather than the typical "pump out more content" advice I read every day, this book is all about helping customers. It gives you one of those "duh" moments where you say, "of course - this is simpler than I thought. If I am producing educational content that answers questions from customers, it will attract people to our company because we're genuinely serving them." This book centers on the idea that *education* and *helping* is the place your content should come from. It's refreshing after reading so many books that focus on vanity metrics like # of likes & shares. There are lots of great case studies in the book, even for companies who are in seemingly-commodity-based spaces.

Marcus is a great teacher and it shows throughout the entire book. I honestly haven't read a book for close to 15 years. I couldn't put this down until it was finished the same day. After finishing, I quickly thought about all of the questions we have had over the years and had a list of over 80 right away. I wrote our first post and had it published within 24 hours of buying the book. I highly recommend that you buy "They Ask, You Answer" and get to work. Both common ways of thinking for business owners that are trying to market more sales each day.This book teaches you core, fundamental, commonly overlooked truths that set the foundation for any marketing campaign you decide to do, especially online in any form. You will find even the truth was inside your mind waiting to finally be set free and this book can do that for you. You will no longer see marketing as a complex or gamblers game of attracting sales through any all means until one way “just works” to stick to. But you will find your message and once you find your message and you will learn how to find the right customers you want. Now you just have to get that message in front of them and stick to that. Incredibly calming and peaceful experience for a hardened marketer that has tried a lot of ways to market their products, but is still open to learning and understanding that there could be more that they haven’t figured out or that they push away thinking it would never work.Exhilarating experience.
