This guide provides a pretty good preparation. It goes into explaining/recapping many of the physics & math concepts that are in the test. While it doesn't serve as a full teaching tool, it certainly helps to refresh everything for the Mechanical Concepts & Mathematical Usage sections of the test. I can't speak much to the Tables & Graphs and Reading Comprehension sections, as I didn't focus much on these, but I figure that they are likely similar.The practice tests are a nice addition to the ones you can download from the EEI website. It gives you another opportunity to prctice without going over problems which you've already seen & done. The one complaint I have here is that the Mathematical Usage practice test is nothing but conversions. It would've been a big help to have algebra & word problems included. Perhaps EEI didn't allow them to included those?Finally, the book provides some good general studying and test taking tips - how to eliminate some of the answer choices was particularly helpful. There is also a web address at the end of the book for additional materials.All in all, it was definitely worth the 40-some dollars I spent to help get a job that could make a difference of thousands.
This book was utterly useless. The test I took had little to none of this information in it. And what little info it had was on the stuff I already knew or understood. What I should have gotten was a book on tools and mechanics.
This book has good info. However, it is way overpriced. Similar info is available for free online. Passing the POSS test boils down to your aptitude (either you have it or you don't) and how fast you can complete the test.
I purchased both products to use as a teaching guide when I help prepare my students to take both the MASS and POSS examinations. My students must pass both the MASS and POSS to be considered for internships at a nuclear power station. I have no doubt that these products will have a positive impact on the success rate of my students.

The study guide didn't match up with the POSS test I was given. Two whole sections in the study guide weren't on my test. And the test had zero algebra questions, while the study guide focused heavily on it. Perhaps worst of all, there was a section on the test that wasn't even in the study guide. This was a waste of money. You should just go through the free practice test online and study what is on there.
Lots of helpful formulas, it also has links for videos to give a visual understanding along w/the text
Shipping was fast from this seller. But the book was not as helpful as I thought it would be. When I took the test for Valero, they only had mechanical aptitude, and reading charts and graphs and being able to manipulate the data on the graphs.
