I enjoyed this book overall. Billy Graham spent his life around the Bible so I figured he would write something that based on his understanding of what was actually written in the Bible. Graham writes honestly he has never seen an angel himself, but he believes in them because they are in the Bible. This book is written in an easy to read and relate to style. Graham reminds us that angels are not all fluffy and sweet as they are often portrayed in television shows and new age style books. Overall it seemed a fair and balanced representation for the layman and I appreciated it's balanced portrayal of the angels.

When I had questions about the nature and role of angels, my search led me to this book, written by none other than Billy Graham. The book covers many of the angels in the Bible. Originally written and published in the 1970s, when interest in demons and exorcisms and occult practices seemed to proliferate as never before, Dr. Graham wrote in response to his own need. Finding few books on the subject or angels both good and bad, he undertook the task of writing one.He delves thoroughly enough in this short work. Yes, each chapter is like a mini-sermon with an altar call at the end, and some may find this off-putting. However, this is the ministry of Billy Graham, unwilling that any should perish . What a wonderful, uplifting way to start my New Year's reading!

His is a thorough accurate , interesting over all reference book on Angels . It included some experiences of folks who have seen an angel or have been ministered to by Angel or angels . Having seen an angel myself , I can assure readers this is a real experience. The angel I saw did not have wings , was at least 7 feet tall , what's closed in white , and displayed a brilliance that appeared to me as bright light and a very penetrating facial expression. Awe-inspiring.

This book allowed me to find my way back to God. My interest and fascination with theology and specifically angels, brought me to this book. This book is an excellent reference of the most pertinent Scripture that allowed me to come back to my Christian faith and ask God for forgiveness of my sins against Him. A posthumous thank you to Reverend Graham for his dedication to our Lord and to helping those like me, find their way back to Him.

Except for the Bible, I love this book better than any one I've ever read. It has Bible verses throughout it, so you can read the scriptures for yourself , to show what the Bible says about angels. You will feel the presence of God and his protective angels, as you ready it. You will be overtaken with joy and thankfulness to God for His amazing love and grace. After a couple of friends read my book, it is going into my collection of books to leave to one of our heirs. If you have never thought about or believed in angels, I encourage you to buy this book. I promise you that you will not be sorry. When I first got it, I read 48 pages before I could lay it down. I truly believe you will love it.

I see some people complain about how short this book is. I think that’s the beauty of it. It gets to the point in terms that new investors or people who find investing confusing could understand. I bought a copy for my young adult children. At that age, there’s no way I would have sat down and read a book like The Bogleheads Guide to Investing (another excellent book). I have friends on the verge of retiring and they are paralyzed with the thought of what to do with their money. This would be any excellent book for them as well. I went from an advisor who had me in 21 different funds and charged 1% plus the expense ratio of the fund, to 3 fund portfolio that even I can manage on my own. I highly recommend this book.

Taylor Larimore is affectionately known as the King of the Bogleheads, he has a lifetime of experience and made all the mistakes along the way so we don't have to. Taylor was born in 1924 so needless to say, he has a huge arsenal of experience that will benefit every person who aspires to have wealth in their retirement years and for those in the accumulation phase who want to build wealth along the way. He has read hundreds of books and has tried what works and what doesn't (in short, Taylor did all the work for us). Along the way, Taylor befriend John "Jack" Bogle who is a living legend in the investment world and beyond. Jack and Taylor are definitely cut from the same cloth. They both are selfless people who rather benefit society than enrich themselves. Although Jack Bogle has more wealth than most of us will ever have, if he decided to take profits from Vanguard, he will probably be one of the richest people in the world along with Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, but instead, Jack decided to structure Vanguard in such a way that the profits came back to us average folks. Taylor realized how much he gained from Jack's creation (the "Index Fund") and calls his home in Miami "The House that Jack Built". Taylor is one of us. A working man who accomplished many success in his life and throughout his working years, saved enough to retire without worry due to the 3 fund portfolio. Taylor's 3 fund portfolio will work at any wealth level and the simple but elegant solution will give you a worry free investment life and a worry-free retirement. Imagine not having to worry about retirement in your golden years. Once you get the message of the 3 fund portfolio, you will be able to ignore the stock market and get on with your life. For those of us (including myself) who really hate long winded investment books that give the average retail investor too much information and not enough real life action steps, fear not, Taylor gave us a ton of information in a small and readable book. The author presents an iron clad case for the Three Fund Portfolio (3FP) which I have personally implemented for myself. This book backs up everything I have learned about the 3FP and more! Taylor Larimore is to be complimented for presenting the material in a short, simple, and understandable format. Those just starting out and seasoned investors alike will love this book.

I have been using a two-fund US portfolio with the Dollar-Cost-Averaging strategy since the late 1980's: Vanguard 500 Index fund and Vanguard GNMA fund. The book, "Value Averaging", by Micheal Edleson, illustrates the viability of the buy-and-hold value averaging strategy using Monte Carlo Simulation, which I adopted since the early 1990's.Bogleheads' three-fund portfolio is broader with less risk than my two-fund US portfolio. I bought one copy each of this book for my nieces and nephews especially because this book is short and sweet and right to the point for the impatient millenniums. Hope they will enjoy their retirement just like I am enjoying mine now!

The book is short and simple, but as we know that is the master key. If you're an experience investor you may not learn something new but its worth a refresher and reassurance that you're still on the right track. This is a great addition to the Bogleheads series of investment books, and a book I will lend out for others to enjoy and read again myself.

Good book that describes the Three-Fund Portfolio in a clear concise manner. People will be put off by how short this book is, but I think they also will be the types that will not implement the strategy because it is too easy.

I agree with the negative reviews that this book is more or less a 17-hour infomercial but it does have helpful tips or suggestions mixed in occasionally, and some of them are real gems which is why I still liked this book overall.This book would be so much better if it focused purely on the science and what behaviors can be modified with actionable tasks/steps people can take (i.e. changing the questions they ask themselves, writing goals on paper, joining support groups)The authors concept is this: Spend thousands getting your brain scanned, then spend hundreds on supplements he sells for your special kind of brain, and join a church.That last part is true and helpful--not necessarily joining a church but forming bonds and strengthening human connection. Have a support system.Of course changing your diet will help too, as most of his supplements work largely because of the forced dietary change.

If you purchase this book you will be hounded with emails to buy his overpriced brain vitamins. The entire book is about making your brain better by using his overpriced supplements, nothing more. Many pictures of brain scans and how he cures people through his supplements but nothing on how to make your life better on your own. Very boring and hard read. I cannot grasp all the positive reviews. He shows brain scan pictures and how after taking his vitamins the scan looks better then says if you cant afford a brain scan go to my website and take the two minute survey and it will tell you what combination of his vitamins to purchase and take. A TWO MINUTE SURVEY IS AS GOOD AS A BRAIN SCAN FOR A DIAGNOSIS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Not to mention it advised me to take vitamins well over a hundred bucks a month. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

I have to admit that I was disappointed, I am surprised there were so many positive reviews!I enjoyed the science and review of brain neurophysiology in the book and the prospect of actually mapping progression/regression in brain health by taking a WebNeuro test as an alternative to the expensive SPECT scan. The book referenced Dr. Amen's "multiple" websites in which you can purchase the on-line WebNeuro test (important to know which program to follow based on the 'type' of brain you have), purchase the results and recommended program of the 'free' on-online ADD test, purchase his on-line training program, and purchase the very expensive (reportedly "very important") and multiple supplements! There is a free personalized report sent by Dr. Amen is based on an on-line test that depicts which one of the 16 brain types you are, which is not even discussed in this book! The self-help available in the book (and on the free on-line report) is not new...mental exercises (I do like Suduko!), positive thinking, meditation, clean eating, and exercise.

Reading this book felt like panning for gold during the gold rush. I would like to preface that I am not a psychology expert, but I am a psychology nerd and I enjoyed this book.I was immediately hooked by Daniel Amen’s life-changing proclaimations about his SPECT research, however I soon came to realize he’d refer me back to his other online material that required more monetary investment. Like what many other readers have mentioned, Dr. Amen heavily advertises his other resources throughout his book. Being the curious person that I am, I looked up how much a scan would cost ($3,500 and their clinic does not accept insurance). Fighting back the urge to get a scan, you can still utilize this book. I think the book offers various nuggets of knowledge, but you have to look for it in the river of text. I gained great understanding of the brain—prefrontal cortex, limbic system, basal ganglia, anterior cingulate cortex, temporal lobe—and how deficiencies in these areas may affect your brain. He also suggests remedies to these issues in an organized and concise method plan that Dr. Amen created. He offers both medicinal and natural ways to aid under or over performing areas in the brain, which I find extremely helpful since I believe in a more holistic approach.I’d say 20% of the book is comprised of educational content, 50% of patient testimonies/stories, 25% SPECT imaging explainations and the last 5% to self glorification.

Excellent resource! Very practical and inspirational information. And for the people who say that this is a giant infomercial, they're missing the gist of it. The idea is that there are things you can do to improve your life. You can start now. You could improve your sleep, and start to exercise. You can put better foods into your body. You can improve your moods. Taking better care of yourself will improve your relationships. The idea behind the book is that you can take control of your neurological health, improve current conditions, and prevent future neurological issues. There is science to back this up. In doing so, you'll likely improve your health, your longevity, the quality of your life. You don't have to buy Dr. A's supplements. Fish oil and phosphotidyl choline and B vitamins and such are all available from a variety of sources. I have used this book with a young client. He's very bright. As he enters middle school, he has gobbled up this book like you wouldn't believe! This book is empowering him to make smarter choices about what he eats, how he engages with others, what he does when he has negative thoughts. I appreciate that there are resources like this to empower not only adults, but also young people. People need to know that they can make lasting and significant changes to their health! There is such a push for pharmaceutical remedies. But your health is in ***your own hands.*** This book has the science, experience, and research to prove it. Thank you, Dr. Amen and colleagues!

Grade 2-5-The author of Walking on the Boundaries of Change (1998) and The Dog Ate My Homework (1997, both Boyds Mills) presents some of her poems along with tips on how to perform them. She explains how to move, how to put emotion behind the words, and how to make rhythm affect the performance in notes at the beginning of each poem, and occasionally in short, chatty captions at the end. Her instructions are easy to follow, although they often feel like lessons ("Can you think of some achy-breaky movements to put with this poem?"). She's also not consistent in the way she talks about voice projection-in two places she mentions volume or loudness, while later she explains that it's actually the strength of the voice, not its volume, that carries. The poems themselves vary in appeal, as they range from the goofy ("The dog ate my homework. You've heard that before? This one ate the table, then chewed through the door") to the righteous ("I'm not on your track, and my whistle is fixin' to scream. I'm warning you, Jack. Peer pressure just makes me get steamed"). Though not illustrated, the book has an inviting, colorful design with stars and spirals in pastels all over each page and text set on blocks of color, matching the energy in Holbrook's voice. With this closing line Holbrook encourages teachers and librarians to try out the exercises outlined in this work to get kids up and performing poems from favorite poets and their own creations. The author includes her own poetry in this work to demonstrate performance poetry and include tips and advice to adults and kids on how best to perform certain works.The format of this work lends itself to adults wanting to include performance poetry and poetry jams in their classrooms or programs. Each poem is paired with explanations on how best to perform the poem out loud, alone or with a group. The instructions are included at the beginning and end of each poem, and additional cues are highlighted in colored boxes of various shapes on each page. The author includes open ended questions to encourage children to think about how the poem sounds when performed with different tones and emotions and ways to include movement in the performance. Each page of cues, instructions and poems give teachers ample information on not only performing the poem offered but also encouraging children to want to perform. The work begins with poems suited to more than one voice to give children the safety of performing as a group. Holbrook then moves on to solo performances and how to instill the courage in children to give this a try.The most useful chapter for adults working with children is "Get Ready to Wham: A Word (or Two) About Contests. This chapter provides useful information in hosting a poetry jam that would be a contest between performers. Holbrook includes instructions for who can participate, how to keep score, who the judges should be, the rules to follow, who is in charge of the contest, and other information to ensure a smooth and fun poetry jam for all contestants. The inclusion of this chapter is clearly helpful to beginners in the poetry jam field.Holbrook's enthusiasm for the subject comes through loud and clear. Unfortunately, her chipper tone and dramatic phrasing could turn some young teens off. This book is best suited for teaching adults. There are a lot of good solid pieces of advice, instruction, and tips in this short work for teachers and librarians. From the use of stage space to the tone, rhythm and emotion behind the words to the volume and strength of the voice, Holbrook offers the right information to inspire adults to give performance poetry a try in the classroom or library programs.

Of course, I am not advocating robbery, but all of the books that I put on my shelves by Sara disappear. This book will be another of those. I teach high school English to 9th graders and her books have broad appeal with my struggling readers and to my honor students. She speaks to the adolescent in all of them including me. It, however, is a great book for teachers to use to begin working on the art of performance poetry and poetry slams with your students. Michael Jordan's mother and sister team up for an inspirational story about this athlete's earliest on-court efforts. Nelson (Big Jabe) is also a strong player here; he contributes animated art, rendered in a cartoon style that is informal yet polished. In the opening scenario, a bully intimidates young Jordan during a basketball game at a neighborhood park, causing him to flub a pass. Michael tells his older brothers, "I am really sorry, guys. I had no idea what "salt in his shoes was" lol Bad mom!! I typed it in amazom and i was soooo suprised it was a book. MY SON AUCTUALLY WANTED A BOOK???? YES!!!!!.. so I ordered it. anything that will distract him from fortnite. Plzzz... im going crazy, no more fortnite! we read this all the time. Its a pretty good book too. Hes 7 hope this helps

I love books that peak my 5 year old's interest. He loves basketball. What better way to get him to read than to get him a book about one of the greatest players to ever play the game. The book is very cute and the illustrations are great and perfect for any age kid. My 12 year old loves reading it to him. Perfect!

We love this book- of course, we're children of the MJ era, so I love reading about his childhood (however accurate it may be), but the story overall is great for kids - emphasizing hard work and patience for success. Very encouraging, uplifting story that's also a lot of fun. Very appropriate for 3-4 year old level, up through older kids who will understand some of the underlying messages more clearly. Great illustrations, as well.

My whole family loves this story. The illustrations are beautiful. The message is great. The ending leaves you feeling really optimistic, powerful, and warm & fuzzy inside. Great book. Beautiful story. Highly recommend!
