It covered all the basics and I learned a lot from it. I learned even more by doing, but I'd have had a real mess on my hands without having read this before I started. With it, even my first frame looks good enough to be hanging on my wall with a matted photo of my granddaughter in it.
I was a bit dissapointed, the book does not wander far from very standard designes, using techniques that though readily accessible do not reliably give the results one would hope for
This is a very good book for anyone who wants to make picture frames of any type from the simple ones to the interesting ones.
Between text and illustrations (including step-by-step photos) all aspect of framing and also frame restoration are covered in a clear, understandable manual. I found this book easy to read but also very comprehensive. I agree with the author's recommendation to read the sections on professional framing even if like me you only want to do framing as a hobby. A most useful book.
This book makes for a good beginner's guide. Some of the information is a bit complex and would be better served with step-by-step illustrations.
